My following report's topic is Ovarian Cancer. The reason i chose this topic was because my grandma suffered through this and passed away this year from it. Living with her I had a very vague and little knowledge about exactly what she was going through. I watched her go through pain and how her body changed, but I thought how is this happening and what is going on inside. It would just be interesting to know more about her life with ovarian cancer and what exactly it is. I gathered a lot of information through my research and now know a lot of detail of what she went through. Now that I look back and picturing her lying in bed i think about what was going on in her body at that time.I also learned about her treatment she went through. I knew you had to have surgery, but now I know exactly what happened during the surgery. I never knew about what chemotherapy exactly was, but now I know. I have seen from the outside in real life and now I have seen it through a women's eyes with ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is usually fatal and it's hard to survive it. Ovarian cancer is know to spread to spread throughout the body. It is a fairly rare type of cancer compared to others and it is not that known throughout the world. One thing I wish was that people know more about ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is really hard to remove because it is like throwing a bunch of seeds around. It's all little pieces of cancer that are everywhere. The way the project was split up into different pieces really helped. I knew what to do every night and what to do going forward. I knew by a certain date what I needed to have completed and I already could start thinking about what I have to do next. The poem, "The Road Not Taken", was a very important piece for this project. The poem was written by Robert Frost and was about how you can take a route that some people wouldn't take because there may be a risk for doing this, but it could also end up changing your life. The poem relates to my topic because there is many different roads someone could take with Ovarian Cancer. Someone may stay at their house to be with family even if they need to have extreme care to live. Also someone may have to have surgery to live, but they are really weak so surgery could also kill them. Most people would take their chances without surgery, but the ones who don't could change their life.
